Weird Things Schmierd Things

Weird Things Schmierd Things

THE RULES: Each player of this game starts with the '6 weird things about you.' People who get tagged need to write a blog post of their own 6 weird things as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave a comment that says 'you are tagged' in their comments and tell them to read your blog. I got tagged by Funky-Redhead, who is the first person who has ever tagged me! I feel so special! I am more than glad to display my weirdness for all to mock me!

6. When I first started voting, I became a Republican only because my Last Name began with an R. (For those who know me, it was my ex-husband.)
I am now a DEMOCRAT. Because that's what I believe in!!

5. My kitchen has to be clean. I could care less about the other rooms, but my domain must be spotless.

4. When I lived in Denver, the only way I could tell East and West was to look at the mountains, then I knew I was heading west.

3. I can not for the live of me remember names. So if you see me and I don't call you by's because I can't remember.

2. I actually cook all our meals. Most people in Florida seem to only eat out!!
(Does this count???)

1. All beds in my house have to be made.

Not sure if this is weird or not, but all I can think of.

I am going to tag:

I really only these three!! Sad to say!!!

School in the Perry house

School was okay today. I made a big mistake of having Dylan time me with addition facts.
now he is upset that I did it in 2 minutes 35 seconds. I told him that was not where I should be and I needed practice, but know he is bummed out he's not better. I told him it took me a long time to get at that time.
We started on subtraction again. He justs hate it so much. I even tried showing him how you can check your work with addition. Still hates it. He wants to know who invented it, so he can tell him off!! I really think if he can work on getting his facts down, he'll enjoy it so much more.
Not sure how we can make it more "fun"???
Trina is the tough one, but we managed to get a bit of LA and US History done. I told her she needs to buckle down with school, or she'll be like college and only low paying jobs. She is now reading the book by Michael Bradley, "Yes, your parents are crazy!" She is loving it and keeps telling me why I do what I do. Well, DUH!!!! Maybe coming from someone might sink in that growing brain of hers!!!
Tomorrow we are off the the Shakespeare Theatre to see "Every Christmas Story Ever Told", I love the Theatre and really only drag the kids so I am not the only adult!! LOL!!! Then in the pm it will be Story of the World. That will probably be it for the day. Oh yeah, Dylan has to make cookies and go caroling with his Boy Scout troop. HMMMMM....not sure when we will squeeze in making cookies, but we must!! I think it will be an easy recipe!!
Love ya all

Dylan's Village and tree

Here is Dylan's village and his tree. They both love to decorate. I must admit I do too!!

Trina's tree and village

I give each of the kids a "table" to put their villages on. They love to decorate it.
Then they each get a mini tree in their rooms. They love putting it up and decorating!!

Jesse Tree

Here are the kids with our Jesse Tree. Isn't it just beautiful? I am not and never will be an artist, but the intent is good. I am truly amazed with how much my children know about our Lord and Savior. They sure do make me proud!!

Advent Wreath

Here is our Advent Wreath. Yes, the candles are crooked. I need to buy candle holders, but no time to do it!!

The Star

Patches had the honor this year of putting the star on our Christmas tree.
It is her first Christmas with us. She was unsure of what was going on!!

Where does the time fly to??

I can't believe that it is already December 5th!!

We are trying very hard to get back into gifted daughter is the hardest to convince to do her work. We are going to switch from Saxon Algebra to Abeka Pre Algebra. I hope that this one will work. I didn't like Saxon either, but that could be because I never took Algebra!! I sure do wish that the prices of things were more affordable. I did buy everything used, but it still adds up!!! I told her that she hasn't even really done a full schedule. It takes me all day to just get her to do her two online courses!! I told her things had to change or she was going to fail 8th grade and have to redo it! How do you get your children to do their work? Any magical ideas?? I did take away her voice lessons for today. I just can't see her getting rewarded with something she loves to do, when I can't get her to complete her work!!

Dylan is trying though he HATES Math. I have tried to make it more enjoyable, but it's just something he doesn't like. I am using Scott Foresman which he liked when he went to private school. I was able to buy it before Ebay went nuts with the teacher's editions of textbooks.
I have him doing flashcards everyday which we time him on. He does love to try to beat his previous time. I think once he has all the facts down, math will be a bit more enjoyable!

I have decided to do no out of the house activities starting in January. It seems that if we leave to do one thing, nothing else gets done for the day. Like when we do voice lessons, the afternoon is out. Do you all do things outside the house? Is is a lost day for you??

We have put up our tree, just need to add the tinsel and candy canes. Patches loves to get under it and lay down. I will get pictures for tomorrow.
Weather is actually cool today...which I am enjoying. I finally get to wear a pair of jeans!!

We hope everyone is doing well. Now I need to read everyone's blogs!! I just haven't had time for anything!!

God Bless,
