I can't believe that it is Wednesday already!! My parents came down to see us on Monday. So not much work got accomplished on Monday. We had a nice visit, but it was way too short. They left Tuesday at 9:30 am., plenty of time to do some school work. Nope, Mom wasn't feeling well!!
So here it is Wednesday and Katrina doesn't want to stick to the schedule and do some work. Whine, Whine, Whine...someone please remind me WHY I WANT TO HOMESCHOOL!!!
She has it so easy, yet won't apply herself. I am thinking of taking a trip to the college she wants to apply to and talking to them about what her requirements will be. At the rate she is going at, she won't even make it to college.
We have Religious Education tonight.
Tomorrow will be a better day!!
God Bless you all

Dylan with his trophy
I didn't get a great picture of Dylan receiving his 1st place trophy.
Here he is at home with his 1st Place Trophy. He is so proud. Which he should be. He raced hard to win that trophy!!

Both kids told me that Friday when they said their rosary in front of Our Blessed Mother that they prayed to win the derby. Well....Dylan got 1st place in Stock Division and Katrina got 4th place in Super Stock Division.
Mmmmm...I need to pray for what I want, but maybe differently???
God Bless you all!!

Pictures of Dylan's race
Derby day was Saturday, September 23, 2006
These pictures won't post in the order I want!!! So first is Katrina getting her 4th place trophy in the Central Florida Soapbox Derby Rally.
Here she is at home with a better picture of her trophy.
Oh my goodness. What a terribly hot day to hold a derby rally.

Oh my goodness. What a terribly hot day to hold a derby rally.
Here Katrina is in the left lane beating Sarah.
Here Katrina is in the right lane beating David.
It was so hot, that Katrina didn't even finish the afternoon race. I had to bring her home. Of course, I was SO READY TO LEAVE!!! Doing this derby is such hard work for the parents. The hot heat didn't help much either!
So the school work that was to be done today, (Sunday), is not getting done!!
What a busy week.

Dylan was suppose to go to the Sanford Zoo at 2 p.m. and have a class. I scheduled at for the Pilgrim Virgin of Fatima Statue to come at 1 p.m.. I didn't know that it would be such a wonderful experience! We had 8 people come into the house. They set her up on our table. Then we said some prayers, said the rosary and said more prayers welcoming Our Blessed Lady into our home. After everyone left, I apologized to Dylan. I told him I should of asked how long it would take. He told me, "It's okay Mom. How often does Mary come to our home?"
We have been told that Many prayers have been answered when the Virgin statue has visited other homes! It is truly an honor to have her here.
We didn't seem to get much school work done. For some reason, I was really tired, emotionally and physically. I had a very hard time getting up in the mornings, and Katrina won't work without someone standing over her!!! Oh well, we did do some.

Our Bible quote for the day is:
"Call unto me, and I will answer thee." Jeremiah 33:3a
I have called, but haven't seen the answer in front of me yet!!
I made up schedules for both of my kids to follow. I made it so that if Trina needs help with Spanish, Dylan is doing work that he can do by himself, and vice versa.
Not gonna happen today. Dylan did his work, and without complaining. Trina on the other hand, locked herself in the bathroom and complained about everything. From the schedule, which she approved the night before to how terrible I make school.
So I REFUSE to go and help them at the soap box derby this weekend. I AM NOT GOING TO KILL MYSELF FOR THIS FAMILY!!!!
I know that there are going to be days when she doesn't want to work, but with her it is every day.
I just don't know!!!!!
Needed to vent I guess. I am praying tomorrow will be better.
Please pray for me.
God Bless.

I am writing this at 11:30 pm and my dog is barking at the people across the street and nothing will stop her!!!
Today was a tough day. We slept in till 10:30!!! I must say I did feel a bit under the weather today.
Needless to say it wasn't a full day of school. Trina is never happy with any curriculum we pick out. She choose to do three courses on line and of course when her grades aren't up to what I think they are....the course is stupid and doesn't explain it enough. I somehow seem to find all the information to answer the questions when I look though!!
I kept away from the prepackaged curriculum because I was so disappointed with Seton's and I paid $500 for it!!
I guess today just wasn't meant to be a good school day....me full of worry about them learning and Trina hating it all!!
I know that God wants me to home school, I just wish he would steer me to the right way to teach them!!!

"The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life." Proverbs 11:30a
I ordered a bread box that has wonderful passages in it. I let the kids take turns picking one each day. Then we read it and reflect on it all day. It's a great way to start the day. I also print out the Saint of the Day and read about it while they are eating breakfast.
Today was a sad day, I watched it happening on the tv and was crying. Dylan was only 3 and kept asking me,"Why you cry Momma?" He just didn't understand. I wanted to run to get Katrina at school (I wasn't homeschooling then). We talked about it as a family. Dave was home sick and I am glad he was here.
Dylan and Katrina had fun making their Adam and Eve for their timelines. Dylan made Jubal and TubalCain also. I have had these paperkins dolls forever and now I know why I ordered them. Jesus was preparing me for this time!! Katrina's is the top one and Dylan's are the other two.
Must go and read to the kids before bed.
Have a pleasant evening and a great morning.

Katrina is doing her U.S. History on line and her she is working. Looks like she may have to work through the weekend. I am tired of nagging her all the time. So this week, since it was a short school week, I would leave her to do it her way. Her way....ummmmhhhh never seems to work out well. The sad thing is that she never learns that sometimes Mom's way or the teachers way is better....oh well. Dylan is doing well with Phonics Pathway and I notice a big difference already!! I love it when we can find a way to make things connect.
Love,

Their crowns are from the Upper Egypt White Crown King who was King Narmer or known as King Menes. We learned about the Nile River always overflowing at a certain time each year. When it did, it left the wonderful silt that was full of vitamins and minerals for the plants. They made the pharaohs shepherd's crook which showed that he was suppose to lead and take care of all the Egyptian people. Ummm...think those three could take care of all of us??? We always seem to have a good time learning and doing the crafts with it.
Then it was off to guitar lessons for the boys. They enjoy it and Dylan loves to practice at home.
We also did some more on Mystery of History and are trying to learn what day God created what. This is something I didn't know either. Man I sure am learning/relearning alot doing this homeschool with the kids!!!
Love to you all

Wow, I am so terrible about writing each day. Dave noticed on the clock that I posted the picture where Dylan put two 35 minutes instead of a 40. I had to figure out how to change the picture!!!
I need to learn my way around eblog!!!
Today was a terrible start. My truck wouldn't start and I had no way to get Katrina to guitar lessons!! We finally asked a neighbor to drive us there and she did!! Thank goodness for wonderful neighbors...thanks Marilyn!!! Another mom from our guitar lessons kindly brought us home. Dave came home at lunch and jump started the truck and off it went to the dealers.
Needless to say, we haven't done any school work today!! OH well, there is always tomorrow.
We had a fun and quiet Labor day weekend. We wanted to go to the beach, but the weather wasn't suppose to be nice. I am glad we didn't go, New Symrna Beach had a shark bite a 33 year old man and that is where we were going to go!!! I think my pool is the best place to be.
We got together with our next door neighbor and her friends and had some great food and of course some great laughs!!!!
We have religious education tonight. I am going to do a reading, which I have never done before. Katrina will be an alter server and even Dylan is going to participate by bringing down the class books to be blessed!!! It's a family night!!!
Dave is staying at home and working on the derby cars. Katrina's is in the garage and everyone but me is getting Derby Fever.
Love to you all,
Bunny
